We’re excited to share the beginning of our journey with you. This page will serve as an initial platform for everything related to the recently formed Northern Alaska Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area.

Mission Statement

The mission of the NA-CISMA is to pursue collaborative invasive species management in Northern Alaska by developing shared objectives, facilitating strategic prevention, detection and control, and promoting invasive species awareness and information sharing.

Upcoming NA-CISMA Meetings

  • The Northern Alaska Prunus Working Group

    May 2nd, 10am

    Led by Gooseberry Peter, this meeting will focus on working together to support research, outreach, education and control work for invasive chokecherries in the Interior and Northern Alaska.

  • The Northern Alaska Strategic Planning Working Group

    TBD

    (Paused for the season) Led by Lisa Dlugolecki, this meeting will focus on looking at strategic plans and deciding where and how we want to focus our efforts in Northern AK. By species? By location? Species by location?

  • The Northern Alaska Weed Free Products Working Group

    TBD

    (Paused for the season) Led by Summer Nay, the Northern Alaska Weed Free Products Group will be a focus group for northern producers, inspectors, and buyers to discuss everything related to the AK Weed Free program. This group will be meant to offer insight on the program, offer direction, and encourage program participation.
