Fairbanks Chokecherry Challenge

Welcome to the 2025 Fairbanks Chokecherry Challenge. The objective of this bioblitz project is to document as many chokecherry trees as possible in interior Alaska. This project will be carried out in the iNaturalist app. Below are the steps you should follow:

Download the iNaturalist App & create an account

Step 1:

  1. Tap the badge above, install app.

  2. Open and create free account or log in

  3. Allow camera and location permissions

Step 3:

Search & Join project “ Fairbanks Chokecherry Challenge”

Step 2:

Add your chokecherry observation to project:

  1. On the home screen of the app, select the green circle “+” at the bottom on the screen

  2. Take or select picture of chokecherry

  3. Add pertinent details: chokecherry species, location, and any important notes.

  4. Important: location must be added or it won’t get added to the project; you can still set location to private if you prefer.

Submit!

Select the green check mark at the bottom of the screen. The observation should automatically be added to the “Fairbanks Chokecherry Challenge Project” You are done! Repeat steps 3 & 4 for each chokecherry observation
